What is Samba?
Samba is an exciting
musical experience created
by playing a range of
percussion instruments and
drums.
It is the most famous form of
music arising from African
roots in Brazil.
Samba developed as a
distinctive kind of music at
the beginning of the 20th
century in Rio de Janeiro
(then the capital of Brazil)
under the strong influence of
immigrant black people from
Bahia.
It is an empowering activity,
which we aim to encourage
everyone to be involved with.
